High alert in Assam ahead of I-day celebration, 2 IED's recovered

Guwahati, Aug 10 (IBNS) : The Assam Police on Sunday has sounded high alert across the state ahead of the country's 68th Independence Day celebration after security forces recovered few IED’s from different areas of the state, which was planted by militant groups for exploded.


ADGP (law & order) of Assam Police AP Raout said police has sounded high alert across the state ahead of I-Day celebration.

On Sunday, security forces had recovered two powerful IED’s in Assam’s Nagaon and Sontitpur district.

The CRPF had recovered a powerful IED at Niz Dimow area near Bebejia in Nagaon district on Sunday morning and later diffused it.

“Suspected militant had planted the IED inside of a tiffin box,” a top official of CRPF said.

In a separate incident, security forces recovered an IED from a passenger bus at Biswanath Chariali in Sonitpur district on Sunday.

On Aug 9, the police recovered a bomb from a public place at Amguri in Sivsagar district.

Security has been beefed up across the state and arranging patrolling in suspicious places.
