India–France ties get a boost as Modi meets Macron at high-profile ‘Bharat Innovates’ event in Nice

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice, France, where he is visiting to attend the ‘Bharat Innovates’ event.

Following the meeting, PM Modi shared a post on X, writing: “Happy to meet you in Nice, my friend President Macron. Thank you for taking part in ‘Bharat Innovates’ at a time when our nations are marking the ‘Year of Innovation.’”

He further expressed his appreciation for Macron’s participation in the initiative, noting the growing collaboration between India and France in the field of innovation.

During the visit, PM Modi also engaged with select investors and venture capitalists in Nice, highlighting India’s expanding innovation ecosystem, investment opportunities, and recent policy reforms aimed at boosting growth.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on X that the Prime Minister interacted with investors and VC leaders at the Bharat Innovates 2026 platform in Nice, emphasizing India’s focus on technology-led development.

The ‘Bharat Innovates’ event is being held in the backdrop of the India–France Year of Innovation, underscoring the strengthening strategic and economic partnership between the two countries.
