Jammu/UNI: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday lodged a protest with Pakistan Rangers over infiltration attempts by terrorists and smuggling of arms at their first sector commander level meeting this year.

The meeting took place at Octroi Border Outpost in Suchetgarh area, a BSF spokesman said.

The BSF delegation was led by Surjit Singh, DIG BSF, and the Pakistani delegation by Brigadier Fahd, Sector Commander, Sialkot sector.

Both sides discussed various border related issues, said the spokesman.

He said the BSF focussed on the infiltration attempts of Pakistan-based "anti-national elements" and recovery of arms and ammunition as well as narcotics on the international border.

A strong protest was also lodged by the BSF regarding all these "nefarious attempts".

The BSF strictly objected to the drone operations carried out by Pakistan violating the International Border.

Construction work by Pakistan Rangers close to border was also discussed.

The spokesman said better communication between the field commanders to resolve all operational matters was discussed to maintain peace and harmony at the border.

"The meeting was held in a very positive, cordial and constructive atmosphere. Both sides agreed to conduct such meetings at regular intervals," said the spokesman.
