IOA official, Indian wrestling referee arrested in Glasgow

Glasgow, Aug 3 (IBNS) Two officials of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), including a wrestling referee, accompanying the Commonwealth Games contingent have been arrested on separate charges of drunken driving and sexual misdemeanor, according reports on Sunday.

While the Commonwealth Games is wrapping up tonight, the two arrest brought disgrace to India as Scotland Police said one is a 45 year old man and another a 49-year-old. 

One of the arrested is reportedly the wrestling referee who has been booked for a sexual assault. 

According to media reports, one of the arrested is Rajeev Mehta, secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association, who has been booked for drunken driving.

The Indian charged with sexual assault is wrestling referee Virender Malik, said reports. 

 
Both will be produced in court on Monday.

Details of the cases are still awaited.
