Jammu and Kashmir: Narcotic smuggler arrested with poppy straw in Udhampur

Jammu, May 18 (UNI) Police on Saturday arrested a narcotic smuggler with contraband of poppy straw in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Based on reliable information regarding smuggling of poppy straw, a police party laid a naka at Jakahni on Jammu-Srinagar national highway," the police here said.
They added that during checking, the police party intercepted a truck for checking and 69kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle.


"The driver namely Rajesh Kumar of Haryana was arrested on the spot," said the police, adding that a case under NDPS Act was registered and investigation started.
