Karnataka: 10 die as Innova-bus collide head-on near Mysuru

Bengaluru/IBNS: At least ten people, including two children, died when a car and a bus collided in Karnataka's Mysuru, said police.

The incident was reported from Tnarsinghpura near Mysuru.

One of the occupants of the Innova car survived and is under treatment.

Visuals from the scene showed the badly mangled car with bodies stuck inside it.

The Innova Car was allegedly speeding and lost control at the turn near Kurpur and collided head-on, said reports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives in the accident and tweeted : "Deeply saddened to by the tragic accident in Mysuru, Karnataka. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured."

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs each to the families of 10 people from Bellary who died in the horrific crash.

The Deputy Commissioner has been instructed to visit the spot and conduct an investigation immediately, the Chief Minister said.
