New Delhi/IBNS: The Congress on Tuesday released the fourth list of seven candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka.

According to a communique issued by Congress general secretary Mukul Wasnik, the party's Central Election Commission (CEC) has selected the candidates.

The candidates featured in the list include former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who joined the Congress party on Monday. Shettar will contest from Hubli-Dharwad-Central Assembly seat.

The 67-year-old Lingayat leader joined the Congress party after BJP denied him a ticket to contest the election.

Elections to the 224-member Karnataka Assembly will be held on May 10.

The results will be declared on May 13.

The opposition Congress is eyeing to return to power while the BJP is hopeful that it will retain its reign.
