Pulwama, Jan 1 (IBNS) : The search operation in  Lethpora area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district finally came to an end on Monday with the recovery of the body of the third militant, a day after a fierce attack left five CRPF personnel dead, reports said.

Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief SP Vaid confirmed the news. "Finally the operation has concluded with the recovery of body of the third terrorist," he tweeted

Three armed militants of the Jaish-e-Mohammed that claimed responsibility for the attack, launched the strike on a CRPF training centre at around 2 am.

The heavily-armed militants stealthily entered the camp,  hurling grenades and resorting to indiscriminate gunfire.

The Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) claimed responsibility for the daring attack.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the sacrifice of “our brave jawans will not go in vain and their valour will be given due acknowledgment”.

“The attack on a CRPF camp in Kashmir was a cowardly attack by terrorists. The sacrifice of our jawans won't go in vain,” he said.

"The entire nation stands with their families. We are proud of our brave jawans who lost their lives in the fighting back the terrorists,” he added.

The martyred CRPF  personnel  are :  Captain Sharief-ud-din Ganaie, Inspector Kuldip Roy, HC Taufail Ahmed, Captain Rajendra Nain and Captain Pradeep Kumar Panda.

Two of the militants have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Baba, who is from Pulwama and Fardeen Ahmad Khanday of Tral. Khanday was the son of a serving police officer and had joined the JeM a few months ago.

The third militant, whose body was recovered on Monday, is yet to be identified.

According to NDTV, before the attack 16-year-old Khanday recorded a video message in which he talked about the plan to attack the paramilitary camp. The video is now viral and is being shared on WhatsApp and social media.

"God willing, when this message reaches you, I will already be a guest of my Lord in his heaven," he said at the beginning of the eight-minute video, in which he urged other young people to join the JeM.
