Kendrapara:  Man sent to jail for outraging modesty of a woman

Kendrapara, Oct 28 (UNI)Police today arrested a person on the charge of outraging the modesty of a married woman and looting a gold chain at gun point.

The accused was later produced before the SDJM court which remanded him into jail custody after rejecting the bail plea.


Mahakalapada police station IIC Manoranjan Choudhury said police arrested one Haba Sethy for outraging the modesty of a married woman yesterday near Orta ghat bridge.


The IIC, said the incident occurred while the woman and her sister-in-law were going on a scooty.


The accused allegedly, in an inebriated condition, outraged the modesty of the woman near Orta ghat bridge.


He later snatched the gold chain of the victim by brandishing revolver and made an attempt to flee from the spot. The woman and her sister-in-law with the help of locals nabbed him and handed over to Police.


Police registered a case under Section 341,294,323,354,379, 506,34 IPC; 25 Arms Act and produced him today at SDJM court which remanded him into jail custody after rejecting the bail plea , the IIC said.
