Kenyan woman carrying reward of Rs 50k held by Delhi Police

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) A Kenyan woman allegedly involved in drug trafficking and carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on information leading to her arrest by Delhi Police, was apprehended from Mumbai, the police said on Sunday.

She was allegedly involved in supplying drugs and was absconding for the last ten months after jumping bail.

She was arrested from Naginpada, Naalasupara East, Mumbai on September 29 by the police team.

She is accused in a case related to seizure of 7.50 kg heroin from three drug traffickers of African origin, the Delhi Police said.


The case was related to busting of an international narcotic drug syndicate by Delhi Police Special Cell on June 25 last year in which three members of drug cartel namely Ekene, Mariam and Martin, all of African origin, residing in Delhi were arrested and 7.5 kgs heroin was recovered from them.


After completing the investigation, charge-sheet was filed in the court against three accused persons on November 1, 2018 for trial.

 

On January 7 2019, accused Mariam was granted bail by a Delhi court , but, she jumped bail and evaded further trial proceedings, the police added.


Efforts were made to trace her but she remained evasive, following which process to declare her proclaimed offender was initiated against her.
She had shifted to Mumbai, reorganised her syndicate and allegedly started drug trafficking in Mumbai, the Delhi Police said in a statement.
