Mumbai: BMC denies permission to both Shiv Sena units for holding Dussehra rally

Mumbai/UNI: A day before the hearing of the petitions at the Bombay High Court filed by both factions of Shiv Sena seeking court nod for holding a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday denied permission to both the factions to hold the rally.

According to the Mumbai police, a law and order situation can arise if permission is given to any one faction.

"So, we have rejected the application and informed both the applicants," said Ramakant Biradar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Zone 2.

Stir over the Dussehra rally has been hitting the headlines for over a week and is a consequence of the political animosity between Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackery and state CM Eknath Shinde.
