Naidu's 'mission' continues, reaches Bengaluru to meet Gowdas
New Delhi, May 21 (UNI): Amid fresh clashes that erupted in the JD(S)-Congress alliance after exit polls gave an upper hand to the BJP in Karnataka in the Lok Sabha polls and Chief Minister Kumaraswamy backing out from the meeting of opposition parties, held on Tuesday, TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is reaching out to the top brass of the JD(S).
Naidu, who is in a 'mission' of forming up an alliance of opposition parties to form a government, if the BJP-led NDA does not get an absolute majority, was scheduled to meet Kumaraswamy and former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda at latter's residence in Bengaluru, on Tuesday.
In the absence of Kumaraswamy, party's Rajya Sabha member D Kupendra Reddy attended Tuesday's meeting.
Last week, Naidu has been spearheading discussions with various opposition parties to form a grand alliance to counter BJP.
Naidu had met Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury in national capital; he also met BSP Chief Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow.
The Andhra Chief Minister also visited Kolkata to meet Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday.
After the meeting with the Election Commission, Naidu and other opposition leaders lashed out at the poll body, alleging that it is not taking decisions on crucial matters on which the opposition had complained.
Most of the exit polls had given a clear majority to the BJP in Karnataka.
Senior Congress MLA and party's Muslim face in the state, Roshan Baig on Tuesday had come out with harsh criticism against party high command and state leadership.
Baig even called party's organisational general secretary and Karnataka in-charge KC Venugopal a 'Buffoon' and backed Kumaraswamay by stating the Chief Minister was not allowed to function, prompting KPCC leadership to sent a show-cause notice to him.
