Pakistan condemns killing of Hizb Commander Burhan Wani

Islamabad, July 10 (IBNS): Pakistan on Sunday condemned the killing of top Hizb Commander Burhan Wani in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian security forces.

" The extrajudicial killing of Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani and scores of other innocent Kashmiris is deplorable and condemnable. Such acts are a violation of fundamental human rights of Kashmiris and can not deter the people of Jammu and Kashmir from their demand for the realisation of the right to self determination," Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

"Pakistan also has serious concerns over the detention of Kashmiri leadership in Indian Occupied Kashmir and calls upon the Indian government to fulfill its human rights obligations as well as its commitments under the United Nations Security Council Resolutions," read the statement.

"Pakistan reiterates that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is only possible by the realisation of the right to self determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as per the UNSC resolutions, through a fair and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices," the country said.

Normal life was hit for the second day on Sunday in Kashmir Valley due to curfew and strike following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander.

Authorities have put severe restrictions in most areas of Srinagar city and four districts of south Kashmir, officials said.

A policeman was killed after angry mob pushed a mobile bunker of Police Department into River Jhelum in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Sunday.

Officials said that crowd pushed a police vehicle into River Jhelum in Anantnag district, killing a policeman. Kashmir valley remained tensed after  17 persons were killed and over 200 others were injured by security forces after the death of Burhan Wani.
