Plane grounded in France over human trafficking suspicion to depart for India soon

The passenger aeroplane that was grounded at a French airport during a stopover last week over human trafficking suspicions will depart for India on Monday morning, French media reported.

The departure is scheduled for 10 a.m. local time (09:00 GMT), the Europe 1 channel reported, citing a lawyer for Legend Airlines, the flight's Romanian operator.

The Indian embassy in Paris announced last Friday that it had received notification from French authorities on the detention of 303 passengers, primarily Indians, aboard an aircraft travelling from the United Arab Emirates to Nicaragua during a refuelling stopover in Marne.

The French media reported that this was due to an anonymous alert alleging that some of the passengers could be victims of human trafficking.

According to BFMTV, which cited the Marne prefecture, the passengers of the stalled flight were interrogated by French officials during the course of the weekend at the Vatry airport near Paris.

On Sunday, the authorities permitted them to resume their journey.
