PM Modi arrives in Dubai to attend COP 28

New Delhi/Dubai/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dubai late Thursday to attend COP 28 or the World Climate Action Summit, where he will make his presence for the third time.

Modi was welcomed by Deputy PM & Minister of Interior of UAE, HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the airport.

The Prime Minister was welcomed by the Indian community which prompted him to post on X,"Deeply moved by the warm welcome from the Indian community in Dubai. Their support and enthusiasm is a testament to our vibrant culture and strong bonds."

The 28th edition of COP will run till December 12.

Along with the COP, the Prime Minister will hold seven bilateral meetings and deliver four speeches during his stay in Dubai for 21 hours.

Prime Minister Modi on Thursday said the climate summit will "provide an opportunity to review progress made under the Paris Agreement, and chart a path for future course on climate action".

He said, "In keeping with our civilizational ethos, India has always laid emphasis on climate action even as we pursue social and economic development.

"During our G20 Presidency, climate was high on our priority. The New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration includes numerous concrete steps on climate action and sustainable development. I look forward to the COP-28 taking forward the consensus on these issues."

Stressing on India's commitment, the Prime Minister said, "India has walked the talk when it comes to climate action. Our achievements in different sectors like renewable energy, energy efficiency, afforestation, energy conservation, Mission LiFE are testament to the commitment of our people towards mother Earth."
