PM Modi dials Covid-infected BS Bommai, suggests appropriate treatment

Bengaluru/UNI: With Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai being on a home isolation after testing positive for Covid, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialed him on Tuesday and enquired about his health.

In the telephonic conversation which went on for about 5 minutes, Modi showed concern for the Chief Minister's health and suggested he take appropriate medical treatment.

The call came at 4.30 pm in the middle of a virtual meeting the Chief Minister was holding to review the Covid situation in the state.

He explained about himself being infected along with two more members of his family. The Prime Minister suggested Bommai get suitable medical treatment.

The Chief Minister also presented details about Covid situation in the state to PM Modi.

"I am holding a virtual meeting right now in Bengaluru as a precursor to the virtual meeting you have called on January 13. Necessary measures have been taken in the state to control Covid. Vaccination drive has been intensified. Further measures would be initiated based on the suggestions from the experts," Bommai said while conversing with Modi.

Though Bommai is under home quarantine, he held a virtual meeting of senior officials and members of the Technical Advisory Committee to address Covid problem in the state.

He also virtually attended the death anniversary of late PM Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister JC Madhuswamy also tested positive for Covid today with mild symptoms. Taking to Twitter, he said he is fine and under home quarantine.

Last evening, Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel had tested positive with mild symptoms, and today HM Revanna, former minister and Congress leader who participated in Mekedatu padayatra, also tested positive.\

Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar also has voluntarily undergone self-isolation after he happened to be a primary contact of Covid-positive Bommai.
Dr Sudhakar is completely asymptomatic and doing fine and has canceled all programmes and worked through virtual platforms.
