PM Modi reacts to possible equaling to Nehru's record, says comparison should be made on progress made during his tenure

Indian PM Narendra Modi, who is eyeing to return to power for a third time and equaling former PM Jawaharlal Nehru's record term, has said comparison should be made on the progress made during his tenure.

"You should not compare how many terms but should do it on how much India has progressed in Modi's term," Modi told NDTV.

He said: "Modi will win thrice, five times or even seven times. I have the blessings of 140 crore people of India so this will go on."

Nehru served as India's first Prime Minister from 1947 till 1964.

Modi first won the general polls in 2014 to come to power in the country by removing the two-term old Congress-led UPA government.

He then went ahead to win another term in 2019.

If voted to power, Modi will return to power for a record third straight term, a rare event in Indian politics.
