Police arrest youth from Assam’s Nagaon who attempted to join ULFA-I

Guwahati: Police arrested a youth in central Assam’s Nagaon district who had attempted to join banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).

The arrested youth was identified as Anarul Hoque hailing from Rupahihat area.

Sanjit Kumar Roy, Officer-in-Charge of Rupahihat police station said that, the youth had attempted to join banned outfit ULFA-I.

“When we had received information from our cyberdrome that, a youth is attempting to join ULFA-I through social media and we immediately verified his Facebook profile. We apprehended the youth identified as Anarul Hoque (30 years old) and he is a resident of Tarabari area under Rupahihat police station,” Sanjit Kumar Roy said.

A case (no-471/2022) has been registered at Rupahihat police station.

The police officer further said that, they will send the youth to jail.

In recent times, Assam police have arrested at least 10 persons including students from different parts of the state who were attempted to join the banned militant organization.
