Ludhiana: Averting a major tragedy, the Ludhiana police have arrested two gangsters identified as Gurvir Singh alias Guri and Raja Singh and recovered a cache of illegal arms from them.

CP Mandip Singh said on Saturday that the Special Inter-state Operation was launched on inputs gathered during interrogation of jailed Bambhia gang members.

He said nine pistols have been recovered already.

SP Rupinder Kaur said that Forward and backward linkages are being identified to unravel the complete plot. All those behind this module will soon be nabbed.

A jailed gang member already has 12 FIRs lodged against him. More arrests are likely in this case.

Two pistols with.32 and.315 bores have been seized from an accused, Raja Singh, wanted in two FIRs.

The arrest was made possible after a swift operation by the police based on input gathered following sustained surveillance.

The involvement of others is being ascertained.
