Rajnath Singh targets Pakistan on Kashmir violence

"The Pakistan which could not even keep itself united will worry for the Muslims living in India," Singh said while addressing at the Parliament.

"India will think about its people," he said.

He said Pakistan is responsible for the violence in Kashmir.

"Pakistan is playing a dirty game in Kashmir," he said as he hit out at the neighbouring nation over the ongoing violence in the Valley.

Singh said maximum restraint was maintained during the Kashmir unrest.

"Forces were directed to use non-lethal weapons," Singh said.

Kashmir has been witnessing violence since the death of militant Burhan Wani.

Violence has left several people dead.

"Burhan Wani was a notorious terrorist of the Hizbul Mujahiddeen," Singh said.

Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was pained by the situation in the Kashmir Valley.

"When PM Modi was on foreign tour, I didn't call him but he did. He inquired about Kashmir situation and steps to be taken," he said.

"And he returned to India, the first meeting was a review meeting on Kashmir situation," Singh said.

Pakistan on July 10 condemned the killing of top Hizb Commander Burhan Wani in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian security forces.
