'If anyone thinks that a cowardly attack is their victory, they must remember this is Narendra Modi’s India': Shah said.

‘Revenge will be taken, one by one’: Amit Shah warns Pakistan of decisive response to Pahalgam terror attack under PM Modi

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday issued a stern warning following the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, declaring that India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, would deliver a precise and decisive response to any act of terrorism.

These were Shah’s first public comments since the attack.

Sending out a clear message to terrorist groups, Shah said, “If anyone thinks that a cowardly attack is their victory, they must remember this is Narendra Modi’s India — and revenge will be taken, one by one.”

He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to eliminating terrorism entirely, saying,

“It is our resolve to uproot terrorism from every inch of this country and it will be accomplished.”

Highlighting growing global backing for India’s counter-terror efforts, the Home Minister said: “Not only 140 crore Indians but the whole world is standing with India in this fight. All the countries of the world have come together and are standing with the people of India in this fight against terrorism.”

He added, “I want to reiterate the resolve that until terrorism is eradicated, our fight will continue and those who have committed it (terror acts) will certainly be given appropriate punishment.”

The Pahalgam terror attack, which left 25 tourists and one local dead, marked one of the most severe assaults on civilians in recent memory.

The assailants targeted Baisaran meadow — a picturesque but remote location accessible only via hike or pony trail — indicating deliberate planning.

Following the attack, Shah flew to Srinagar on April 23 to meet the bereaved families and laid wreaths on the victims’ bodies.

Vowing justice, he said the perpetrators of the “dastardly terror attack” would not be spared.

The incident triggered a sharp downturn in India-Pakistan ties. In the aftermath, the Indian government announced several retaliatory measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and cancelling visas granted to Pakistani nationals.
