Road mishap in Ballia leaves six dead

Six people, including two children, were killed and 10 others injured when two jeeps collided with a pickup van in the Bairiya area of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that the incident took place in the wee hours when the loaded pickup van collided with two jeeps on Haldi-Bairiya road.

"Ankit Kumar (46), Ranjit Sharma (32), Yash Gupta (9), Raj Gupta (11), Rajendra Gupta (50), and an unidentified man were killed on the spot," they said.

Police sources said that 10 people were injured in the incident and were taken to the district hospital, where four identified as Babban Prasad Gaur (35), Hajari Gupta (60), Rama Shankar Gupta (60), and Sonu Gupta (31) have been referred to Varanasi.
