Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 13 (IBNS): Continuing the political violence in Kerala, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist was killed in Guruvayur on Sunday, media reports said.

The deceased has been identified as Nenmini Anand (28), who was knocked down by a car and the assailants, who came out of the car, later hacked the activist to death.

Anand was knocked down by the car near Nenmini Balaraman temple.

Anand was the second accused in the murder of DYFI activist Faizal, who was killed in 2013.

According to the reports, the assailants could not get into the car due to the fear of being caught. Later the accused persons took a bike by pushing down its rider.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, as a mark of protest, called a strike in Guruvayur on Monday.

As a reaction to the incident, BJP president Amit Shah tweeted: "I condemn the brutal killing of a young RSS Swayamsevak K Anand in Guruvayur,Kerala. The continuous violence by CPM workers & the protection to such political killings is now before the nation. CM Pinarayi must explain what his govt is doing to curb criminal elements in his rank."

In one of the recent incidents, in August, an RSS worker was hacked to death by a group of assailants. While police had said that there was personal enmity, the BJP alleged the hand of the CPI(M).

The family of Rajesh, the slain RSS activist,  had blamed the ruling CPI(M) for his death.
