Rule of law collapsed: WB Guv Jagdeep Dhankhar after not being allowed to attend JU convocation

Dhankhar, when entered into the JU campus, was blocked, shown black flags amid the "Go Back" slogans given by the protesters who belong to the Trinamool Congress' Shikha Bondhu organisation which is protesting against the CAA.

The Governor had supported the CAA which has been opposed by West Bengal ruling party TMC.

"It is the death knell of democracy. The rule of law has collapsed. It is a very painful moment for me," Dhankhar, who is the JU Chancellor, said.

Accusing the ruling dispensation of politicising the education institution, the Governor said, "I cannot see a handful of students playing with fire, ruining democracy and career of students. There must be a public outcry. The state government has put education in captivity and totally politicised it."

"I appeal to the state government, Chief Minister that the entire situation is generated due to lack of administration at her level."

Training his guns at JU Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das for not taking any action, Dhankhar said, "Look at the conduct of the VC. He is saying he is helpless. If he is helpless, he must give it up."

Few students said they would not accept degrees protesting against Dhankhar's silence over the attack of Jamia Millia University students.
