New Delhi/IBNS: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday joined the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) leaders video conference and thanked her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for helping in evacuating 23 Bangladeshi students from Wuhan city of China which is believed to be the epicentre of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Thanking PM Modi for bringing back students, she said, " I thank PM Modi for taking this initiative. I also thank him for bringing and hosting 23 of our students from Wuhan ."

"We are ready to share our capacities and resources if required," Hasina said during the video conference attended by SAARC leaders.

Hasina said it is the correct time to think about the betterment of the people of the SAARC region.

"It's a crucial time for all of us and we need to think about our people," she said.

"I hope the conference will show a new dimension to help our people and the people of the region," she said.

Leading a video conference, participated by South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) leaders, Indian PM Narendra Modi on Sunday said India not only evacuated 1400 Indians from different Coronavirus-hit countries but also helped some people from the neighbouring nations during the evacuation process.

"We also responded to the call of our people abroad. We evacuated nearly 1400 Indians from different countries. We also similarly helped some of the citizens of our neighborhood countries," Modi, who had proposed for a joint conference of the SAARC leaders to combat Coronavirus trouble, said.
