New Delhi/IBNS: A significant amount of work has been done on the proposed Digital India Act, and the draft legislative framework is expected in the early phase of 2023, said Minister of State for IT Rajeev Chandrashekhar in a PTI interview.

He also cleared it out that they were not operating on artificial timelines, as per a PTI report.

Detailed discussions will be undertaken on key legislations by the Government, the MoS IT said.

In an interview with PTI, he said, "...all of these legislations for 'new India', have to be modern, extensively consulted with consumers, industry, startups, lawyers, judges, citizens... all of them have to find that their voice has been incorporated into all of these legislations, and that is precisely what we will do."

The Digital India Act will replace the more than two decades old IT Act in place to accelerate growth in the Indian economy through much more innovation, while safeguarding the trust, and accountability that Indian citizens place in its administration, he said in Sept. as per media reports.

Laws, rules, and jurisprudence circling around the internet will keep evolving, he mentioned as per a PTI report.

Bringing attention to a recent improvement to IT rules, he said appellate panels will be set up to look into issues that users could have against social media platforms and its decisions on presenting non-stop content, according to a PTI report.
