Supreme Court halts police action against Sadhguru's Isha Foundation

New Delhi/IBNS: In a big relief for Sadhguru, the Supreme Court on Thursday paused the Madras High Court order directing a probe into the case filed against the spiritual leader's Isha Foundation, media reports said.

The top court has asked the police to file a status report.

The Madras High Court had passed the order in the backdrop of one professor's allegation that his two daughters had been "brainwashed" to turn into hermits and stay at Isha Yoga Centre under Isha Foundation run by the spiritual guru.

S Kamaraj, the professor, had filed a plea seeking his daughters' appearance in the court in person.

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said in the hearing as quoted by NDTV, "The first thing is that you cannot let an army of police in the establishment like this... what we will do is ask a judicial officer to visit the premises, and talk to these two inmates."

One of the two women talked to the court online and said they are staying at the Isha Yoga Centre voluntarily.

She alleged that their father had been harassing them for the last eight years, the report said.

The court also talked to the monks in the chambers.

The CJI noted a doctor at the foundation was accused of child abuse and the probe into the matter shall continue.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who represented Isha Foundation, said the alleged incidents did not take place on the foundation premises.
