Telangana: Six of a family killed as car falls into a canal

Siddipet (Telangana): Six people, including two children, of a family, were killed when their car lost control and fell into a canal on the outskirts of Munigadapa village in Jagadevpur Mandal in this district on Tuesday.

Police said the accident occurred when the occupants of the car were proceeding to Bibinagar in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district after visiting Raja Rajeswar temple, Vemulawada in Sircilla district.

Media reports said the car hit a culvert and overturned and slipped into the canal which was under-construction. The victims died of suffocation even though there was not much water in the canal.

Four of them were killed on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.

The deceased were identified as Sammaiah, Sravanthi, Lokesh, Rajamani and Bhavyasri.
The authorities fished the car out of the canal using an earthmover, media reported.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police added.
