Terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir: 10 pilgrims killed as attacked bus falls into gorge

At least ten people were reported killed and many injured when a bus carrying pilgrims fell down a gorge losing control after terrorists attacked the vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, officials said.

At least 33 were injured after the bus on its way to the Shiv Khori cave temple fell into a gorge from the firing by the terrorists.

"Nine pilgrims have died and 33 are injured," Vishesh Mahajan, District Magistrate of Reasi, said while another report claimed ten were killed in the attack.

Resai Police on a Facebook post said: "Today a group of terrorists attacked a yatri bus coming from the Ransoo area of District Reasi. Due to the attack, the driver of the bus lost control and the bus fell into the deep gorge near the Kanda area of Pouni Reasi. Due to the accident, 09 people are feared dead and rest injured. Rescue operation was completed at the earliest and the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals."

Police said senior officers and other forces rushed to the spot and the area was cordoned off. Search operation has been launched.
