Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress leader Anisur Rahman and his brother Alif Noor alias Mukul Rahman were on Friday arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the alleged ration scam in West Bengal, media reports said.

The Rahman brothers were arrested after they were interrogated by the ED for 14 hours.

Their properties were also raided by the officials.

Anisur, who is TMC's Deganga block president, will be produced before the court along with Mukul on Friday.

Former West Bengal Minister of Food and Supplies Jyotipriya Mallick was arrested by the ED last year in connection with the alleged scam.

The ED, which is probing the money trails of the alleged irregularities in the statutory ration distribution system, has information that the arrested businessman Bakibur Rahaman has huge businesses in Bengal, Mumbai, and even in Dubai worth nearly 100 crores of rupees.

Reports claim Bakibur had rapport with Mallick when the latter was the state food supplies minister in the previous Mamata Banerjee government.

The ED has also summoned Barik Biswas, who is considered a close aide of Mallick.
