Tragedy in Saudi Arabia: Indian national killed in Riyadh Airport attack

| @indiablooms | Oct 11, 2026, at 11:45 pm

An Indian national who was injured in a missile attack at an airport in Saudi Arabia has died, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed on Sunday, taking the death toll in the strike to 13.

A Saudi-led coalition blamed Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighbouring Yemen for the attack.

Confirming the death, the Indian Embassy said in a post on X, “It is learnt that one Indian national injured in the Riyadh attack has unfortunately lost his life today. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. We are in touch with the family and will provide all support for ensuring the early repatriation of mortal remains.”

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi identified the deceased as Mohammad Yousuf Ali, while noting that the information was yet to be verified independently.

“I have received news (subject to verification) that one Mr Mohammad Yousuf Ali died in the attack on Riyadh Airport today. His wife and two kids have suffered injuries,” Owaisi wrote on X.

India on Sunday condemned the missile strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which had reportedly killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others before the Indian national's death was confirmed. New Delhi said repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure were “completely unacceptable”.

“We strongly condemn the repeated attacks on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including the dastardly attack on October 10, which have led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

“The repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately,” it added.

The missile reportedly struck the airport complex housing Terminals 3 and 4, which handle domestic flights. The attack was described in the supplied account as the deadliest strike on Saudi soil in more than a decade.

Houthi-Saudi Conflict Escalates

The Houthis have launched a series of strikes against Saudi Arabia, targeting airports, oil facilities and tankers, since a truce in their long-running conflict with Yemen's internationally recognised government collapsed in July.

The Iran-backed group claimed responsibility for a series of strikes targeting the airport on Thursday, which reportedly killed three people and damaged an aircraft.

Yemen's civil war intensified after a four-year United Nations-brokered truce collapsed in July. Saudi Arabia has led an international coalition supporting Yemen's government militarily since 2015.
