Lucknow/UNI: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday will address pro-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally, amid rising discontent over the contentious legislation.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has launched door-to-door programme to aware the people about the truth of the CAA and to wipe out the misconception triggered by the opposition since January 7, is all set to hold six big rallies in each of the six mandals of the party this month.

In each of the rallies, the BJP was expecting a crowd of over one lakh.

The first rally will be held in Varanasi which will be addressed by Ms Irani. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya and UP BJP president Swantradeo Singh will also attend the rally. The rally is being held at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University sports ground, party sources here on Saturday said.

Tomorrow, a similar rally will be held at Maharana Pratap Inter College ground in Gorakhpur where Mr Adityanath and state BJP president Swantra Deo Singh will be the main speakers.

However, the biggest rally would be held in Lucknow on January 21, when party president and Union Home minister Amit Shah will be the chief speaker along with UP CM, deputy CMs and other leaders.

On January 22, there would be two rallies, one in Kanpur and another in Meerut. The Kanpur rally would be held in Commercial ground where Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar along with UP CM and other ministers would address the people in support of CAA.

In Meerut, the rally would be held at Madhokunj Shatabadi Nagar where Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the UP BJP president will be the chief speaker.

The last rally would be held in Kothi Meena Bazar ground in Agra on January 23 where BJP's national working president J P Nadda and Adityanath along with other senior party leaders would be addressing it.

The Chief Minister is also slated to join the Ganga Yatra from January 27 for five days when he, along with other state ministers and BJP leaders, will interact with the people living near the river of the state.
