UP: AAP extends support to grand alliance candidate for Dhaurahra

Lucknow, Apr 25(UNI): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday extended its support to Arshad Ahmed Siddique, the BSP-SP Dhaurahra candidate in the Lok Sabha elections.

Party's UP unit chief spokesperson Vaihav Maheshwari said here that the party will support Arshad Siddique contesting on the alliance ticket from Dhaurahra seat in Lakhimpur Kheri district.

Arshad's father Illias Azmi, had been MP twice and was a popular politician of the region while he was also the member of the national executive of the AAP, Vaihav said.

Dhaurahra Lok Sabha seat is going for a close contest where former Union minister Jitin Prasada is the Congress candidate.

The constituency is one of the 80 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. It comprises five Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) segments - Dhaurahra, Hargaon, Kasta, Maholi and Mohammdi.
