Rai Bareli/UNI: A man was arrested and sent to jail for raping his minor daughter in the Lalganj area here, police said on Saturday.

Additional Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava said that the man, who was also allegedly under the influence of alcohol, raped his minor daughter in the Nasirpur village on Thursday night.

When the girl screamed, her mother woke up from sleep and rescued her daughter.

She subsequently informed the police about the incident.

On the basis of a written complaint furnished by the girl's mother, a case has been registered under the rape and POCSO Act.

The victim has been sent for a medical check-up.
