A 14-year-old girl died by suicide after jumping from the 19th floor of a residential building in Maharashtra's Kalyan on Thursday, media reports said.

She was reportedly upset over scoring low marks in her school exams.

The girl, identified as Riddhi Kharade, lived in the Raunak City complex.

She had returned home around 3 pm after attending her school’s “open day,” where results were declared.

According to reports, Riddhi told her elder sister that she was unhappy about her performance.

Moments later, she jumped from the balcony of her 19th-floor apartment.

Police have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further inquiries.
