WB: Municipality engineer arrested with 20 Cr black money

Kolkata, Aug 15 (IBNS): The Anti-Corruption branch of West Bengal police on Friday arrested one municipality engineer from Howrah district of West Bengal in disproportionate assets case.

After receiving complaint, a team of WB police's anti-corruption branch on Friday conducted raid at the house of sub-assistant engineer of formerly Bally Municipality (Now Howrah Municipal Corporation)'s building department Pranab Adhikary at Ghusuri area under Malipanchghara Police Station in Howrah.

ADG of WB Police's Anti-Corruption branch Ram Phal Pawar told IBNS: "After getting specific complaint, we conducted the raid. We have arrested Pranab Adhikary and his son Tanmoy Adhikary in disproportionate assets case. We have seized 20 Cr 7 lakh 57 thousand rupees cash, money counting machine, few kilograms gold and few savings certificates from his house. We are interrogating them to know about the others involved in this case."

The arrested were produced in the Howrah CJM court on Saturday and the judge sent them to police custody till Aug 17. They have been taken to Bhabani Bhawan for interrogation.

According to the reports, he took bribes from the promoters and builders to pass illegal constructions and made such huge black money.
