28th KIFF: Spanish film Upon Entry, Bangladesh's Kura Pokkhir Shunye Ura bag top awards

Kolkata/IBNS: Spanish film directed by filmmaker duo Alejandro Rojas and Juan Sebastian Vasquez, Upon Entry, and Muhammad Quayum directorial Bangladeshi film Kura Pokkhir Shunye Ura (The Golden Wings of Watercocks) have jointly won the Best Film award for International competition on Innovation in Moving Images at the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on Thursday.

A sum of Rs. 51 lakh was awarded to the two films.

The awards were handed over by West Bengal Minister Aroop Biswas and senior actor Rituparna Sengupta at the closing ceremony held at Rabindra Sadan in Nandan premise.

Actors Tnusree Chakraborty, Paoli Dam, Ishaa Saha, filmmakers Arindam Sil, Haranath Chakraborty were among the attendees at the closing ceremony.

KIFF chairman and filmmaker Raj Chakraborty too was present on the dais.

The 28th KIFF, which began on Dec 15, had the screening of 183 films in 10 cinema halls across Kolkata.

Best Indian Documentary Film: Nybreum - The Unsettled Shade by director and producer Neha Sharma.

Best Indian Short Film (Special Jury Award): Xunyota (Void) by director Nabapan Deka and Haater Sporsho (The Divine Touch) by director Dr. Prosenjit Choudhury.

Best Indian Short Film: Mein, Mehmood (I am, Mehmood) by director Prataya Saha.

NETPAC Award for Best Film: DOV (Fortune) (country: Tajikistan) by director Muhiddin Muzaffar.

Special Jury Award in Indian Language Films: Chhaad (The Terrace) by director Indrani and Sikaisal (If Only Trees Could Talk) by director and producer Dr. Bobby Sarma Baruah.

Best Director in Indian Language Films: Deepankar Prakash for Naneera.

Best Indian Language Film: Muthayya by director Bhaskhar Maurya.

Special Jury Award for International Competition on 'Innovation in Moving Images': Silent Glory (country: Iran) by director and producer Nahid Hassanzadeh.

Best Director for International Competition on 'Innovation in Moving Images': La bruja de Hitler (Hitler's witch) by director and producer Ernesto Ardito and Virna Molina.
