Kolkata/IBNS: Bengali actor Amrita Chattopadhyay starrer, Raja Ghosh directed Bengali film Chabiwala was screened at the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) last week.

The film revolves around a key-smith who travels to the city hoping to meet his long-lost beloved, who has been married of the same faith as her and whose whereabouts he is unaware of.

Amrita, who began her acting career with daily soap Kanakanjali and then went on to feature in a meaty number of films and web series, played a pivotal role of a girl in the film, which stars Kaushik Kar, Subhashish Mukherjee, Sohan Sen in distinct characters.

Speaking on her character, Amrita, who ventured into films with Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa, told India Blooms, "Fatima’s journey shows how a city changes one’s life.

"Fatima also searches for something in life."

Though the film’s shooting including post-production spanned for around four years, Amrita says it didn’t "strike" to her much as the entire team was in "sync".

"All team members were in sync. We all were on the same page," she said and added, "The director was never like a dictator on set, we all had the liberty to discuss and offer inputs."

The film was selected in around 19 film festivals for screening.

"The screening in various film festivals has been very encouraging for us," Amrita says.

Some of Amrita's other films are Onnyo Basanto, Loadshedding, Ahaa Re, A Holy Conspiracy et al.
