Actor Shriram Lagoo passes away, Bollywood actors mourn

Mumbai/IBNS: Actor Shriram Lagoo, who was seen in several Bollywood movies over the years, died on Tuesday.

He was 92.

He acted in over 211 films including Hindi and Marathi films as well as Hindi,Marathi and Gujarati plays, and directed over 20 Marathi plays.

He was considered one of greatest actors of Marathi stage during the second half of twentieth century. 

Lagoo, born in Satara in 1927, was also an ENT surgeon.

He is best remembered for working in movies like Ek Din Achanak, Love Marriage, Naya Daur, among others.

Bollywood actors reacted to the death of Shriram Lagoo.

Actress Urmila Matondkar tweeted: " RIP Dr. Shriram Lagoo..most brilliant n committed actor of marathi theatre and an equally committed socialist, leader of anti superstition movement.He held my little finger n brought me gently on the silver screen in “Zakol” Will miss u नटसम्राट."


Actor Paresh Rawal said: "Truly a GREAT theatre actor Dr Shreeram Lagoo Saab is no more . AUM Shanti."

Actor Rishi Kapoor reacted: "R I P. One of the most natural spontaneous actors, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo sahab leaves us. Did several films way back. Unfortunately never got to work with him in the past 25/30 years. He had a retired life in Pune. Love you Dr. Sahab."
