Akshay, Sonam receive National Awards from President

New Delhi, May 3 (IBNS): Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and actress Sonam Kapoor received the National Awards from President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday.

Akshay received the best actor award at the 64th National Film Awards for his performance in 'Rustom' at the Vigyan Bhawan on Wednesday.

Sonam Kapoor received a Special Mention award for her performance in 'Neerja'.

After receiveing the honour, Akshay tweeted: "No words can do justice to the joy I feel at this moment...sharing with you all my first ever #NationalFilmAward!Thank you for the love."

Surabhi Lakshmi was also present to receive the best actress award for her performance in Malayalam movie Minnaminungu.

Over 300 films vied for the honours this year.
