Mumbai/IBNS: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has redefined Bollywood movies with his stunning and memorable performances over the years, completed 50 years journey in the B-town recently.

It was 50 years ago when the name Amitabh Bachchan flashed on the big screen for the first time when he appeared as an actor in 1969 released movie Saat Hindustani.

Since then till 2019, Bachchan, who is fondly called by his fans as Big B, has walked many miles and this year he added one more feather to his crown when the Indian government selected his name unanimously for the Dadasaheb Phalke award.

Amitabh Bachchan first tasted success in the early 1970s for films such as Zanjeer, Deewaar and Sholay, and was dubbed India's "angry young man" for his on-screen roles in Bollywood.

He was last seen in the film 'Badla.'

Referred to as the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Star of the Millennium, or Big B, he has since appeared in over 190 Indian films in a career spanning almost five decades.

Bachchan is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema as well as world cinema.

Beyond the Indian subcontinent, he also has a large overseas following in markets including Africa (such as South Africa), the Middle East (especially Egypt), United Kingdom, Russia and parts of the United States.

Bachchan has won numerous accolades in his career, including four National Film Awards as Best Actor and many awards at international film festivals and award ceremonies.

He has won fifteen Filmfare Awards and is the most nominated performer in any major acting category at Filmfare, with 41 nominations overall.

In addition to acting, Bachchan has worked as a playback singer, film producer and television presenter.

Big B's son Abhishek Bachchan paid a rich tribute to him on completing 50 years as he wrote on Twitter: "Congratulations Pa on completing 50 years in the Film industry. We now await the next 50! Love you. @SrBachchan #50yrsofSaatHindustaani#50yrsofBachchan  GiveItUpForBachchan."
