Brothers earns over 50 crores on opening weekend

Mumbai, Aug 17 (IBNS): Superstar Akshay Kumar's latest released film 'Brothers' has earned more than 50 crores in the opening weekend.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#Brothers has ₹ 50 cr+ weekend. Fri 15.20 cr, Sat 21.43 cr, Sun 15.45 cr. Total: ₹ 52.08 cr. India biz."

The film, which released on Aug 14, also features Siddharth Malhotra, Jackie Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez.

The sports-themed movie has been directed by Karan Malhotra.

Adapted for Indian audiences from Lionsgate’s critically-acclaimed Warrior, Brothers tells the story of two estranged brothers and their struggling relationship with each other and their father, set in the intense, gritty and action-packed world of mixed martial arts competition.

Bollywood celebrities have appreciated the movie with star Hrithik Roshan tweeted: "#brothers is outstanding!! Bright light n love 2 my friends @karanjohar @karanmalhotra21 @akshaykumar @Asli_Jacqueline , Sid n dear ekta! #"

Actress Sonakshi Sinha said: "Brothers!!! What an emotional family saga interlaced with the exciting world of MMA! @akshaykumar and @S1dharthM look like REAL bros "

Actor Arshad Warsi posted: "Saw "Brothers" last night, very dramatic and the best sports action till date in a Hindi film. Super direction, Performances, editing etc."
