Mumbai/IBNS: Amid the Coronavirus scare, the trailer of 2011 American thriller film Contagion started trending on Twitter as several netizens felt the movie was about the deadly pandemic virus.

The film, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh, was about the spread of a virus which disrupts the social order.

It also shows the introduction of a vaccine to contain the disease, which is yet not the case with the deadly Novel Coronavirus.

Contagion, which was written by Scott Z. Burns, had an ensemble cast which includes Marion Cottilard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet.

In a much similar scenario to what was shown in the film, the Coronavirus fear has engulfed the entire world as over 166,000 people (as per last update) have been infected by the 'pandemic' virus while more than 6,000 people have died.

Though the epicentre of the virus outbreak was initially China's Wuhan, Europe is now facing a huge threat from the Coronavirus.

In a much similarity to what was shown in the film, several cities across the globe are present under lockdown.

So far in India, 114 people have been infected and two people have died.

Joining the netizens, actress-turned Indian parliamentarian Mimi Chakraborty on Sunday shared the trailer on social media and said she was "numb in thoughts" after watching it.

She said on Instagram, "SURREAL 🦠 🦠🦠 This video was send to me by my friend this morning since than i got really numb in thoughts. The movie was made in 2011.. This is the trailer,it gav me goosebumps nd i couldn’t believe my eyes that how can someone make a movie on the crisis which the entire nation is facing in 2020."

The film was released on Sept 9, 2011 in the United States.
