Filmfare Awards 2023: Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt, Rajkummar Rao bag top honours

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood film Gangubai Kathiawadi, actors Alia Bhatt and Rajkummar Rao bagged top honours in the 68th Filmfare here on Thursday.

Gangubai Kathiawadi secured 10 awards including the best film and best director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Alia Bhatt, who played the lead in Gangubai Kathiawadi, won the best actress award.

Rajkummar Rao bagged the best actor award for his role in Badhaai Do.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is the first project where Alia, who played Gangubai in the film, has collaborated with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The film is a real life story on brothel owner Gangubai Kathiawdi, who used to live in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai.

Badhaai Do, which also starred Bhumi Pednekar alongside Rajkummar, is a comedy drama film jointly written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial and directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni.
