Celebrities across India have come together to mourn the death of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, a towering figure in the country’s film and music industry. She was 92.

Bhosle passed away at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday, leaving millions of fans heartbroken.

Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news, saying, “She is no more. Her last rites will be held at 4 PM tomorrow at Shivaji Park.”

Celebrities Pay Tribute

Paying tribute, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan wrote on X: “It’s truly sad to learn about Asha Tai’s passing… her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate worldwide for centuries.”

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan also mourned her loss, while Hema Malini said she was deeply shocked, recalling her emotional bond with both Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar.

“She contributed immensely to my journey in cinema. This is a loss that can never be replaced,” Malini said.

Southern megastar Chiranjeevi described her voice as “timeless,” while Akshay Kumar said her melodious voice would “live on forever.”

Hospitalisation Before Passing

The veteran singer had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on April 11, a day before her demise.

An Eight-Decade Musical Legacy

Born in 1933, Asha Bhosle began her career at just 10 years old, singing for the Marathi film Majha Bal in 1943.

Over an extraordinary career spanning more than eight decades, she became one of India’s most versatile playback singers. Her iconic songs include Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Kajra Mohabbat Wala, and Dil Cheez Kya Hai.

Initially known for cabaret-style and light numbers, she later earned widespread acclaim for her mastery across genres, including ghazals and classical music.

Her passing marks the end of an era in Indian music, with tributes continuing to pour in from across the country.
