Made with 250 stray dogs, Pankaj Tripathi's Ohh My Dog screened in Kolkata

The film, which is directed by Amit Rai, is set for a theatrical release on July 31.

Rai, who is known for his critically acclaimed film OMG 2, spoke about his upcoming film’s themes of compassion, resilience and the special bond shared between animals and humans.

Oh My Dog follows a family drama, exploring the intricate relationship between a child and a stray dog.

As the story unfolds, it leads to an investigation of the mysterious disappearance of dogs, exploring the themes of compassion and resilience.

He further spoke about the special emotional connection between an animal and a human and how this movie places special importance on it.

Indian actor and producer Supratim Roy was also in attendance at the event.

Speaking about the movie, Roy said: “It's an amazing cinema; a dog is everyone’s best friend, and Pankaj Tripathi- what a fantastic actor he is and I am really looking forward to watching this film!”

Bengali actor Sreelekha Mitra also made an appearance at the screening.

The movie was made with the help of over 250 stray dogs, making Mitra’s long-standing advocacy for animal welfare particularly relevant to the discussion.

She is widely known as an outspoken advocate for stray dogs and animals, having long been involved in rescuing, feeding, and promoting the adoption of stray dogs.

“We have to fight for them; they are creatures who cannot speak, and we are the ones who should speak up for them”, said Mitra.

The film is set to release on July 31 across all major theatres in India.
