Malaysia bans 'un-Islamic' Despacito song
"When in Rome..." and when in Malaysia don't indulge in anything 'Un-Islamic', for the slightest walk over the line can get you banned among other things.
While the country has ordered state-run station to chuck the song from their playlist, it has 'encouraged' private stations to 'practice self censorship'.
The only good thing that has emerged from the row is the uniformity of rage in both the incumbent and opposition parties.
The chairwoman of women's wing of Parti Amanah Negara, the country's opposition party, Atriza Umar has described the song as 'porn'.
She has stated that the music is unsuitable for children and can prove to the detrimental to the conservative Malaysian society.
Fonsi hasn't reacted to the news yet.
The country has also banned the remix version of the song, which featured Canadian music sensation Justin Bieber.
