Kolkata, Aug 9 (IBNS): Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Saturday said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has tied a rakhi on his wrist.

"Happy RAKHI to everyone. Mine already started with Mamata Didi tying me mine. Thank you Kolkata & the Police Deptt," he tweeted.

He visited Kolkata on Saturday.

Khan had earlier in the day tweeted: "In Kolkata...my city of joy."

Khan is the brand ambassador of West Bengal. He is also the owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

India will celebrate the Rakhi festival on Sunday.

The Rakhi festival, which is also known as Raksha Bandhan, celebrates the sweet relationship between a brother and his sister.

The festival brings with itself lots of emotions like trust, love and commitment, which are exchanged among siblings.

The Rakhi ceremony involves the tying of a rakhi by a sister on her brother's wrist that symbolises her love and prayer for her brother's good health and prosperity. On the other hand, the brother takes the lifelong vow to protect her.
