Never felt like an outsider: Actor Lakshya Lalwani on his film debut with Dharma Productions' Kill

| @indiablooms | Jun 27, 2024, at 05:06 pm

Known television actor Lakshya Lalwani is launched by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions with Kill, a Nikhil Nagesh Bhat film which was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival or TIFF last year. Lakshaya narrates his experience of working on the film in some recent events.

Q. What was the experience like working for an action film?

A. It was exhilarating and something beyond my words that can describe it. When I met sir (Karan Johar) in the office for the first time and he narrated the script to me, I was curious to know when the project was getting on floors. I think I was working on some other project at that time but my mind was fully occupied by his script and narration that I got from him. So given a chance, I would do it all over again.

Q. What kind of preparation did you undergo for the film?

A. I think an actor gets better with preparations over the course of time. I was trying to find the vibe and energy of the character. In the initial days, I was trying to get into the groove and colour of the character. After the first kill [killing scene] happened, I felt like I was in the skin of the role and it was just a continuation from there onwards.

Q. What do you have to say with the amazing team of Karan Johar?

A. I have been in Mumbai for nine years now. I had a dream to become a film star and that too with Dharma Productions. So it took nine years for me but the day has finally arrived. I thank Karan-sir and the entire Dharma Productions team for always supporting me. I have had quite a journey in Dharma Productions itself. I thank God for the opportunity which came my way. I was always curious to know whether I was coming on board for Kill or not. I was keen to work right from the time I heard the script.

Q. What are your thoughts on being launched as a newcomer by the Dharma Productions?

A. I was an outsider on paper but I never felt it in the company (Dharma Productions). After my first film (his earlier films with Dharma Productions were delayed and shelved) didn't work out, I never felt losing the support of the team and company they had shown to me from the very beginning. I see the amount of time and effort everybody has put in me and it puts me in a little bit of pressure but I am trying my best. I am utterly grateful for what they have done for me. I don't feel like an outsider to be honest. I have always felt they have got my back. Kill just happened and all panned out very well for me.

Q. You have worked on TV for several years. How emotional was this journey for you?

A. The journey has remained very special. I still can't believe that it's actually happening. It's too good to be true. I have worked on TV for six years and I have learnt a lot from the medium but my ultimate goal was to become a film star. I still can't believe that it's a reality now. I am unable to describe my feeling because I haven't been through this kind of an emotion previously in life. I can't describe the feeling but I want it to continue and keep multiplying in my life.
