Kolkata/IBNS: ZEE5’s upcoming original film Nibba Nibbi, directed by Tathagata Mukherjee and starring Sauraseni Maitra and Rishav Basu, explores an unconventional side of love and relationships.

The filmmaker and lead actors spoke to the media on Tuesday ahead of the film’s release.

Director Tathagata Mukherjee said, "We have made this film to represent this generation. We don't want to see this generation from the outside, but we want to show the truth from the inside. The word Nibba Nibbi is used to troll people, but the inside is different. This film will prove that."

The story follows a young toxic couple whose lives take an unexpected turn after they discover a stolen hard drive containing secrets that were never meant to be exposed. What begins as an attempt to escape gradually turns into a violent and darkly comic road trip across Bengal.

"Nibba Nibbi is a story that allows us to explore dark humour, adventure and thriller within the chaos of a road journey.

"The characters were unpredictable and their choices kept pushing the story into unexpected situations. We wanted to create a film that was entertaining on the surface while also exploring relationships, ambition and the darker side of human behaviour. I am excited for audiences to experience this unusual journey," Mukherjee added.

As the journey unfolds, the film explores themes of love, power, betrayal and hypocrisy, bringing the couple face-to-face with situations that challenge their relationship and the choices they make.

Actress Sauraseni Maitra said, "There was a lot of bloodshed happening in this film. It was a lot of fun shooting those scenes. But let's be clear, we don't support violence. Just as a part of the character, I felt happy when we could vent out the anger."

Rishav Basu, co-lead of the film, "I think everyone will discover Sauraseni in a new way. It's commendable and she really did the best job in this film. Even working with Tatha da (director) was a great experience. The whole unit of this film was amazing which will be shown in the film also."
